This is the third appointment in a row where the doc measures my uterus and says "are you having twins??" My uterus is measuring so much bigger than is normal at 20 weeks! It's measuring about 24-25 weeks today. It makes me laugh - could you imagine if somehow we made it all the way to birth and found out oops! there's really 2 in there?

Re: 20 week appt today
Yes, I have a blog and it's hilarious (except when it's not)
NO! OMG, I would pass out I think.
My docs all do it by touch. They just feel my belly to see where the fundus is. At 20 weeks it's supposed to be around belly button level and then 1cm higher for each week further along.
I'm pretty sure I would pass out in the delivery room about having twins at the last minute!!!
My dr uses a measuring tape to measure my fundus...and the tape went above my belly button (I didn't get a good look at what the cm's read) but he said I was right on track.
too funny! I can't imagine a second baby was somehow hiding all through your anatomy scan, but wouldn't that be crazy?
Guess your little one just like his space in there!
I would seriously have to punch something or somebody if twins popped out... or pass out or something. I'm not one for huge surprises!!
It's funny that your uterus measures so far ahead. Apparently my uterus measures exactly 20 weeks... it's my baby that measures almost 3 weeks ahead- lol! At least today. Does your baby measure that far ahead, too? Or does he just have plenty of room to play?
ETA: wording
BFP #2: 7/23/14 - MC: 8/28/14
BFP #3: 2/22/15 - MC: 3/3/15
BFP #4: 5/20/15 - Stick baby stick!!!
I was just teasing DH about this last night saying what if we find out there's two in there at our scan next week and then we'd really need a lot of stuff. He's kind of freaking out about how much babies need - even though we're doing our best at a minimalist approach. He just had no clue! lol
It's neat how everyone can be so different. Makes me wonder what causes those differences...
The baby is measuring about a week and a half ahead so yep! Sounds like he's got a lot of room
That acutally happened to my MIL with my husband and his identical twin brother.
They didn't do ultrasounds back then and could only detect one heartbeat. When she went to deliver... Out came my BIL and then the doctor had to hurry up and turn around to catch my husband who just fell out on his own. No one had any idea that she was carrying twins. They just thought my BIL was a big baby.
I'm not sure that is possible now days, but it definitely was 28 years ago! I can't imagine!!!
