Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Are you switching OBs???

I think I might switch OBs after my f/u appointment. I only had this one for my one pregnancy and although I like her, but I am not attached to her. I was just thinking of changing to start over fresh? I think going to that office will cause me anxiety. Are any of thinking of changing OBs?

Re: Are you switching OBs???

  • I am planning on finding a new OB.  My OB doesn't have an u/s machine in her office, and I would like more u/s next time.  One at 18-20 weeks is not going to be good enough for me.  The only reason I got an early one this time was that I complained about pain in my left side, so she sent me to the hospital for an u/s.

I'm also not really attached to my OB, so I will have no problem switching.

  • I'm changing. My OB gave me nothing but issues since my BFP. I know my loss has nothing to do with her, but I was going to change OB's before I found out about my m/c.
  • Yep, mine is resigning anyway and wouldn't have been there for the delivery anyway.  Not cool if that would have happened!

  • i debated this for a couple days now. and i think i will stay with mine. she will have to use the same office but has a different waiting area with no pg ladies in it for ladies who have sadly lost LO's, and she has access to all hospitals around my area. So i think i will be keeping her. She also told me and DH that she will be monitoring our next LO more closely which made me so happy

  • muffin- that is so awesome that your OB has a seperate waiting area, how thoughtful!  I was just thinking after reading some posts the other day about waiting in the waiting room with all the pregnant people how nice it would be if they did have seperate rooms.

OP- I think that is understandable you want to have a fresh start- hope you find a good new OB.

  • I am trying to find another one as we speak.  My OB went into the wrong room after my follow up and the first thing out of his mouth was "So is the baby kicking yet?"  My DH almost killed him.  He was a great doctor and I am thankful he saved my fallopian tube but I will never forgive him and I can't stand to walk in the door.

  • I actually just switched OBs.  The OB who handled my mc was really insensitive and callous about the whole thing.  Plus the office was impossible to get a hold of someone.  I had an initial appointment last week with my new OB.  I had my mc about 5 weeks ago and never had a final f/u with my other OB.  The new one did another u/s and cleared me, something the other doc didn't think was neccessary, but definitely something that made me feel better.

I wish more offices had the separate waiting areas.  That's a really good idea!  It is hard to sit there with pregnant women around you while you are grieving silently.
