Clomid vs. Letrozole success?

hey all, I am moving on to letrozole (femera) next cycle due to funky visual side effects and inconsistant responses to Clomid. What is the difference betweeen the two meds and can one expect to respond better to letrozole than Clomid? Are the chances per month of getting PG about the same? Any info/advice would help!

I wish I had some answers for you. I'm hoping to try femara for TTC#2 in a couple of months. I didn't respond at all to clomid -- no ovulation -- and I can't afford injectables this time around, so I have big hopes for femara.

I'm sure I've heard here that femara often works when clomid doesn't. Hopefully someone with experience will chime in.

I don't really have answers for you but I'm sort of in the same boat.  I'll be trying Letrozole next cycle.  DS was conceived on a break cycle after injects, I did 4 rounds of clomid and never responded.

While TTC#2 I've been TTC since September 2009, at first was just on Met (PCOS), have done 3 rounds of clomid, I responded but was not successful.  I'm going to try 2 rounds of Letrozole before moving on to injects.

I didn't do Clomid but I did do Femara. I had headaches but almost no other side effects. DS is the result of a Femara IUI cycle. My Dr said her patients have about the same success rate on Femara vs Clomid but a lower rate of multiples. Her thinking was it produces beter folicles.

Well I hope the letrozole works better for all of us!! fingers crossed!! Now if AFwould just show up so I can start over once again...sigh

Caroline is a letrozole baby...I tried 5 rounds of clomid with no success.

I did Femara and got pregnant on the first cycle with it, but I O'd really late - CD24.  From the studies I read, the chances of getting pregnant are similar but Femara doesn't thin your lining like Clomid.  Good luck!

I did not have any success with clomid to get me to ovulate. Femara worked for me on the higher dose. IUI + femara and worked for me! I'm a big fan of it because I had NO side effects. Clomid made me very ill to where I couldn't get out of bed even on low doses...Good luck!

Hello, I have been on clomid for 6 cycles with no success. I ovulated twice but the doctor believes that was on my own.So now I'm starting my first cycle of letrozole next month. I came across this thread and wanted to follow-up and see if anyone had success. My first pregnancy was an ectopic in 2009 I feel blessed to still have two tubes and everything is normal besides my irregular cycles & ovulation.The next step for me is injectables. I'm hoping that letrozole works because injectables would be out of pocket & it seems a little scary. Thanks for your feedback in advance.
