3rd Trimester

Here is a dumb GD test question...

I am not told to fast or anything, just eat a normal breakfast.
I have been eating VERY well this entire time (unlike with DD) well I decide the past few days to eat crap, not thinking the test is tomorrow morning...McDonalds, chocolate doughnuts, KitKats, cookir dough...yikes...

That should not do anything to the test results correct or might it?

Re: Here is a dumb GD test question...

  • I failed my one hour and was kinda bummed. The nurse said as I was leaving, "Well good luck w/the 3 hour, ya know you could have failed today because it was something you ate". I'm not sure if that's true or not but sure made me think about what I ate in the days leading up to it.

  • I don't think it will make any difference. Just make sure to eat well today :)

  • a friend of mine had a snickers bar the morning of and failed it bc of that. I was told to fast and eat normally the 2 days prior. Just be careful the moning of and have something small like a granola bar and water. You shoukld be fine.

  • I don't think it should affect your results, but then again I have failed twice and ate normal meals. Eat the good stuff tonight and you'll be fine. (my completely unprofessional opinion)
  • I was at a conference the three days prior to my GD test.  I had a cinnamon roll for breakfast each morning and they had sweet snacks at both the morning and afternoon coffee breaks, plus dessert after lunch and dinner.  Yeah, put a 25-week pregnant woman with a sweet tooth in the room with all that stuff and expect her to eat at least a bite of something????

At any rate, I had a SUPER low carb breakfast the morning of my test and it came back just fine.
  • Looks like eggs and veggie sausage for me tomorrow morning!
  • I asked this question two weeks ago and you flamed me for it..... interesting.
  • jres-sotty if you think I flamed you, maybe you have me mistaken or you read it wrong, I looked back to posts between today and Aug 29th and could not find any posts of yours I responded to.
The only thing I have said recently is that I am not asked to fast before and you can't sway the outcome by eating food with low glycemic index for a few days before hand...
I am asking if you can sway the outcome by changing your diet of a high gylcemic index a few days before hand.

If you can find the post I would love to see it because I am fairly sure it was not a flame, I do not flame often.
  • My midwife told me not to drink anything sugary the morning before the test.  No soda or oj or anything, just water.  That's what I did and I passed the 1 hr.
