Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

what helps w/the headaches?

I've been having terrible headaches post-m/c, and read that it is "normal", but Tylenol doesn't touch them.  Wondering if anyone else has found anything that helps?  TIA!

Re: what helps w/the headaches?

  • I get hormonal migraines and the only thing over the counter that seems to help sometimes is Excederin Migraine.  Tylenol does nothing.  I do have a prescription for migraines which is called Imitrex, and that knocks it out right away.

While i was pregnant my dr gave me a milder prescription which was safe to take while pregnant which was called Fioricet which contains a muscle relaxer, tylenol, and a little caffeine.

I would try the Excederin Migraine if you are not having extreme pain with nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and smells.  If you are having these symptoms it is so worth getting a prescription for Imitrex.

     Hope this helps.

Excedrin is my go-to for headaches - the one-two-three punch of tylenol+aspirin+caffeine (active ingredients) usually does it for me. Also make sure you're well hydrated.

THIS!!! Excedrin is my hero.  Just make sure you eat with it because all of those wonderful active ingredients can really mess with your insides.

  • I'm so glad you posted this, I had no idea this was normal!!!  I thought it was allergies or something.

Well, I'm cheating, I'm still on hydrocodone for my MC cramping....works great on the headaches though.

  • Thanks ladies.  I ended up e-mailing my nurse (about something else) and asked her if I could take Excedrin.  She said no :(, since it has aspirin in it.  So I continue to suffer...
