We did 2 months of Clomid and that resulted in our twins! We aren't ready for number 3 yet, but for some reason I have baby fever already and I'm dreaming about the day when baby number 3 comes along.
But... we TTC for one year before my OB suggested Clomid. My fear is that I'll have trouble TTC again, and in that case would I take Clomid again and risk ending up with TWO sets of TWINS?! Or even TRIPLETS???! I would like to have baby number 3, but baby number 4 (or 5) too? Not so sure.
If you are thinking of another baby in your future, would you use Clomid again and take your chances with multiples?
Re: Clomid MoMs
We did IVF for our babies and I really really want baby #3. We are toying with a SET next time but just can't imagine spending that much money and only banking on a single embryo.
BTW - Harry and Alex are born on the same day as Charlotte and William!
4 Fresh IVF cycles + 1 FET where embies didn't survive the thaw = 2 perfect little men!
sFET 11/9/11 - Beta 11/18 BFP!
The chance of multiples with just clomid alone is low. I was on clomid, 2nd cycle 100mg when we got preggo with DS. They did NOT monitor my egg production or anything that time, they just gave me 50mg the first month and we did not get pregnant. The 2nd month they gave me 100mg and we got pregnant, I was shocked!
Since Clomid worked for us, they dr. let us start there for baby #2. This time we were under different insurance. They did u/s to monitor my egg production and I had a shot to stimulate egg release the day before my expected ovulation. I ended up with THREE eggs, and they did an IUI this time. We ended up with twins. Since we KNEW we had 3 eggs and we had the added help of an IUI we were pretty certain we'd end up with multiples this time! The IUI was covered by insurance this time, and I was so shocked that they offered it I jumped on the chance! We had success our first cycle!
I think with 3 kids, one boy and two girls on the way I feel like our family will be complete. I don't think I'd use fertility treatments in the future. If we decided to try for a 4th it would be left up to chance.
we were lucky and had our singleton first- b/c if we had the twins first i don't know that we would have TTC again.
If we did- we would have been monitored by an RE with US so we'd know how many follies there were... and would not have gone forwad with the IUI if there was more than 1 mature follie- since every time we had mature follies- they became babies (the one time we had a failed cycle I never really got a good mature follie... but our first cycle was one follie = DS1, and the 2nd cycle TTC#2 had 2 follies= the twins).
just as we wouldn't have done the IUI if there were 3 mature follies- b/c we did not want triplets... it's not a perfect method to control- but certainly gives you better chances for just 1.
Our first child was natural. This pregnancy was on Clomid, monitored. I was told I had 2 mature follicles, so we did the IUI and planned for twins. Never in my life would I have thought I'd get triplets out of it!
With 4 kids, I think we're done, but if we decided we weren't it'd definitely be left up to chance from here on.
