My sister in law in naming my niece Maycee. While I like the name, I don't like the spelling. Does anyone else think that this has entirely too many unecessary letters?
I think the spelling is awful and the name sounds young to me. In general, I am not a fan of names that end with an "ee" sound. They sound too nick-namey and childish (for the most part; exceptions include Penelope...).
But yeah ... Maycee ... ew. Maci / Macy ... I could deal with it.

It's waaaay too phonetic looking. Makes me really want to enunciate the MAY-CEE. Yuck. Macy would be much better, although I really have a hard time picturing this one on an adult.
The "ee" at the end makes my eyes hurt. Why do that to a lovely name like Macy? Doesn't she know it's the same name, regardless of how it's spelled? I don't understand that. Different spelling does not equal a unique name.
Do what you can to convince her that spelling is atrocious. Otherwise, try to never ever write your niece's name.
I'm glad you said this because i was getting a lil sad... My DD's name is Maicee pretty much the same LOL and I LOVE it. I always get compliments on it. I never thought about it not being fit for a grown woman LOL. I'm sure by the time she is a grown woman there will be much weirder names out there.
The name is NMS but I do prefer the "Macy" spelling. It could be worse...she could be spelling it "Meisee" or "Maysee"!

I love the name so much, but I do not like the spelling Maycee.
I'd spell it Macy or Maci.
