Earths Best Organic Formula Question

I recently switched to the Earths Best Organic Fromula and noticed that my  5 month old son is not going #2 as often as he was on Enfamil. I am wondering if anyone else experienced this as well.

I wanted to use the organic formula due to the fact that there is no pesticides, hormones  or antibiotics used in making it. However,  I am having second thoughts that it may not be filling him up as much and or is making him constipated.  I am just wondering what thoughts you have  about this product. I don't have too much knowledge of the product. I am new to the bump and have not seen any posts about this formula.

Re: Earths Best Organic Formula Question

  • I am really interested in hearing the replies to this one.  My son is on Similac and I wanted to switch him to an organic formula.  The ones that I read the most about and determined was best was Baby's Own Organic Formula.  They use all BPA free packaging.  (Most formula lids contain BPA.)  Additionally, they do not use DHA or ARA.  Most used in regular formulas are lab grown algae that is bleached to reduce odor.  Crying They have a supplement that you can add to the formula that is aqua derived from egg yolks.  I tried my little man on it at 2 weeks and his bowel movements become completely hardened and I took him off it after 5 days b/c he was in pain.  The main ingrediant/carbohydrate is brown rice syrup, so I think this was the cause.  I put him back on similac with no problems.  I will not do the organic version of similac b/c the carb for that is organic cane sugar and I am worried about the long term affects on his gums and teeth and I read that some pedis have this concern too.  I did not do Earths Best b/c it contained more DHA/ARA than similac (more bleach) and contains palm olein oil which some have reported makes stools harder and restricts calcium absorption.  Also their lids for earth's best baby food contain BPA, but I am not sure about their formula lids, although I am assuming they do.  Similac has been good for our little man and I add half pack of the Baby's Own DHA/ARA to each 35 oz jug I mix.  I was Baby's Only had worked out. :(

  • I have the same problem as well.  She was on Enfamil and switched to Earths Best Organic.  It also made her bm green.  I'm wondering if her tummy is not liking it because she has a sensitive stomach and reflux.
  • YES!

We actually went the opposite direction because we saw the exact same thing.  We had been using organic formula (Earth's best mostly, those some of the baby's only as well) and DD was only going every 2-3 days!  We had to give her karo or prune juice frequently because it was so bad.  It never occured to me that it was the formula!

Then we went traveling and I didn't want to deal with mixing formula in a hotel room so we just bought the RTF Similac (she'd had it before and I knew it was good with her system).  Well in those few days she started have BMs every day!  I read the container and realized that it actually says something about making their BM more like BF babies.  So now we are on Similac exclusively.  I hate that it isn't organic, but don't feel like the organic standards mean enough to get the Similac organic.  Same basic ingredients in my book, so not really any better.

  • Our LO does have harder stools sometimes and only goes about every other day. Our pedi said we should give him about 1-2 oz of water a day and that really helps keep him regular and keep the stools soft.
