what should be a reasonable expectation?

so... i am five months postpartum and 235 lbs (i'm 5'11" it's not as big as you might think) i had two babies in the last two years i would like to lose 45Lbs by summer (5months) and another 10-15 by this time next year (within reason ... i weighed 180 at 16 and i was really really skinny i would like to get back there) how reasonable does this goal sound?

i am currently taking

Monday: Bodyflow

Tuesday: Sh'Bam

Wednesday: Sh'Bam

Thursday: RPM or Bodystep

Friday: Bodyflow

Saturday: Bodystep or RPM

Sunday: Bodyflow

Re: what should be a reasonable expectation?

  • 45 lb in 5 months is probably setting yourself up to fail. That's 2 lb/week, every week, for 23 weeks. I'd scale back that goal to 25 or 30 lb by summer, unless you're willing to be ruthless with your eating.

BMI-wise, 180 sounds like a good goal for your height.

Exercise is good. Losing weight is largely about what you eat, though.

  • I think it is great to do something everday.  Like the PP said, two pounds a week is tough.  To lose 1lb a week you need to burn/reduce your calorie intake by 500/day (3500 calories a week to lose 1lb) - so for 2lbs you would need to burn/reduce 7000 calories a week!.  I am not sure how many calories you are burning with your exercise classes, but if you can do 500 there a day and then reduce your intake by 500 calories a day - you should be able to stay on track!  GL!
