Baby Names

My hubby's choice vs. mine - poll

If we have another girl -- My husband is dead set on his name and won't even consider any others.  To his defense, I decided on the name for our first DD b/c we agreed that I would name our first girl and he would name boy (as long as other wasn't totally against it). I love his boy's name choice, so there is no problem there. Our DD's name is Sophie Rose.  Which you do think goes better with Sophie Rose?  Our last name is two syllables and starts with a K.  Thanks for your input.[Poll]

Re: My hubby's choice vs. mine - poll

  • Neither. I think they are too redundant with the same "ie" ending as Sophie. I love Grace, but think Gracie as an official name really cheapens it. Not a fan of Mackenzie at all, but I pretty much hate all "Mc/Mac" names, so I'm not the most objective.
  • I like Gracie as a nn, but not as a full name. So I'd definitely go with Grace.

  • I voted for Gracie because I really find the other option unappealing. As already mentioned, name her Grace and save Gracie for a nn.

  • Mackenzie Madison makes me nauseous. Gag!

Please go with Grace Madison and call her Gracie. Every girl deserves a professional name to fall back on. Gracie is a nickname and too cutesy for a 45 year old heart surgeon, just to give you a picture.

Grace Madison  ...  I voted for Gracie Madison, but honestly, if my parents gave me a childish nickname like Gracie as a full name ... I would be pissed.

Almost ANYTHING is better than Mackenzie!

    Agreed.

  • I hate the name Grace so Mackenzie it is.

  • Mackenzie is 110% masculine to me, and it's so handsome! Gracie is not a name I'd usually go for, but an actual girl name will beat out Mackenzie without a second thought from me (especially a combo as masculine as Mackenzie Madison. You don't get much more 'boy' than repeating the idea if 'son' twice). Are you guys not keen on Grace?
  • What about Madison Grace? Clearly you both agree on madison...And that way sounds better than Grace Madison to me, and I agree with the others about Gracie.

Mackenzie Madison is kind of pukey...My last name is B__ley and my husband wanted our son to be Bailey B__ley so I feel ya :)

  • There should be some kind of warning on here "Do not agree as a couple that you will each get to choose a name for different children". IMO that's a pretty childish way to agree on names for your kids. Choosing a name together is important. Otherwise you end up in situations like this.

Both of those names are way to cutesy for anyone over the age of six to pull off. Grace Madison would have my vote.
  • I voted MacKenzie because I think Gracie is cute until she's about 5...then it looks and sounds childish. If you were to use Grace then I'd vote Grace.
  • I sided with your hubby kinda by default. McKenzie (spelled this way) is ok with me and I think that Madison is pretty yet very common. I don't think the name flows well though.

Gracie Madison doesn't flow at all and Gracie is not a grown up name as prev stated.

Since you all both like Madison why don't you start from there?

  • I didn't vote because  I don't like either.  McKenzie sounds silly, Madison at this point just sounds generic, and I'm really sick off all the Grace/Gracie hype.  Sorry.
  • Gracie is very cutesy. Please just go with Grace and save her from a lifetime of having a little-girl's name. It's like naming a boy Willy-imagine a grown man going by Willy. Awkward.

  • I think Sophie and Gracie are too matchy. Grace is a good choice and nn Gracie if you have to.

    Mackenzie is ok.

That's BS and would not fly in my household. You should be able to compromise and find a name you both like.

I voted Gracie, but think it should be a nn for Grace.

     Hahahaha! This 100%

I agree with the other go for Grace instead of Grace. However, I'm not a fan of Mck names in the least!
