So, on Monday I went for my baseline bldwk, the nurse who drew my blood isn't my favorite one there and for some reason she always hurts more then the others. This time she hurt me SO much that I was like holy cow! Well, when I got to work about 20 minutes later the area where she drew blood was swollen to the size of like a walnut which has since gone down but I have so much bruising you wouldn't believe its the whole inner crease the size of like a glass rim and it reaches all the way back around to my elbow!!! It's craziness..If I knew how to PIP, I'd put a pic up. Anyway, I go back friday, I'm scared I'm going to get her again, DH is adamant I say something..would you?

Re: The nurse butchered me! WWYD?
If you get the same nurse again, I would point out your bruise and ask her to be more gentle this time. I'd probably say it jokingly so it won't come off wrong, but you should def say something.
FWIW, the first time I went for b/w the tech gave me a heck of a bruise, too, although it didn't hurt. A couple of days later, another tech drew my blood and noticed my bruise and promised to be extra nice....and she was.

If the phlebotomist is having a difficult time drawing your blood she should have asked someone else to try. Your arm may have been the size of a walnut because she did not hold pressure very long after drawing your blood, as well as being rough. She needs to learn from her mistake. I think it is best you say something.

Ok let me see if I can get a pic
YES i would!! and i did! the usual lady that drew my blood started hurting me a year into it and so i told my regular nurse and now when i go in i have this one lady draw it, and she doesn't even draw in that area! as soon as she sees me she just takes me back and boom, i am out pain free and bruise free (i am a big bruiser, so it's great that she doesn't bruise me!)
good luck friday =(

it's a girl!!
i'd definitely say something and i'm sure you'll still have the bruising so they'll be able to see it.
My nurse who drew blood on me for the first time said my vein rolled which i think i actually felt when she put the needle in b/c it felt like a pop. blah. anways, she had to try again on my other arm w/ a smaller needle. when i go back tomorrow for b/w you better believe i'm going to remind her to use a smaller needle.
