Pregnant after IF

Robitussin DM while pregnant??

Robitussin DM while pregnant.... safe or bad?

Robitussin is on my "safe" list from the OB, but when I asked DH to pick me some up last night, he double checked with the pharmacist and she said absolutely not.  Then I stopped at a different pharmacy on the way home today and asked another pharmacist and he said it's completely fine.  Hmmm.

I couldn't get ahold of my dr's office today, so I'm asking you guys.  Anyone know for sure?  I have the worst cough (and I'm already on antibiotics for chest congestion, but need something to suppress the coughing b/c it's keeping me up at night and giving me such a sore throat).

TIA!

Re: Robitussin DM while pregnant??

  • I'm in the middle of an FET cycle and just went to the doctor for my cough.  She said it is NOT safe in the 1st tri, but it is safe 2nd and 3rd tri.  Get some advice from others before taking my word though.  This is new information to me.  I thought I read on a different site that it was safe throughout.

  • P.S.  Do you use a humidifier?  My doctor said it would vastly help me.  Then again, my coughing is mainly due to my sinuses draining down my throat and irritating it.  Good luck and feel better!

  • Thanks girls.  It sounds like I can take it and not worry.  LTF525, thanks for the link.  I googled and was finding contradictory info, but I feel better about seeing it on WebMD.  I am going to sleep so much better tonight (hopefully).
