Acupuncture

I was wondering if anyone had used acupuncture to help with fertility? My husband and I have discussed looking into this. If you have, what questions do I ask and what do I look for? I'm in Dallas if you know of someone in the area.  Also, what is a normal cost?

Hi! I actually used it once for my last IVF. I am planning on doing it again for IVF#2. This time, I am planning to do at least 6 sessions. It is expensive. Initial conult. is around $125 and each session after that can run anywhere from $70-85. Ask your fertility doctor to recommend someone that specializes in acupuncture and infertility. I wouldn't just go to a regular ol' acupunturist. Good luck to you!!

I have been there several times.  I don't remember how much the initial visit was but my visits are $45 and covered by insurance.  I'm usually there over an hour because it takes a while to get set up and visit with her and then I do 30 minutes on my front and 30 minutes on my back.  I definitely suggest looking into it.  We actually tried a few different places but ended up back at the first one because I liked her the best.  Found out later that's who my RE recommends too for their IVF patients because she is the "expert" in our area.

I've been going since July and while I haven't gotten pregnant yet I'm very glad I made the decision to do it.  It has really helped me feel better in so many other ways.

I got a recommendation from a friend.  His wife went to this one and she got pregnant and we had been going to the same RE before that.  But after choosing this acupuncture place I found out my RE recommended it too.  I would definitely check with your RE and see if they have any suggestions.  My specific RE told me that he can't say for sure that it is the reason any of his patients have gotten pregnant but he urges people to try it.

My initial consult was $90 and my appointments (weekly) cost $65, which I pay for out of my flexible spending account through AFLAC.

I've been doing meditations as an alternative to acupuncture because there isn't anyone in our area. It was about 60 bucks for a slate of IVF related meditations. I don't know if they are working, but they are super relaxing.

i do it twice a week and love it. hate the cost, but at this point i am willing to do anything i possibly can to get a cycle to work. since i go twice a week it is $85 once a week and $60 the other. i have been doing back treatments the last few times. i say just look for someone that specializes in IF. can your RE recommend someone to you? or your OB? my OB recommended mine and turns out my RE refers people to her too.
