Colace for Constipation

I am assuming that since I have seen that some of you guys have taken Colace for your constipation, that it is pregnancy safe.  Just making sure, because I am about to send DH out to get it for me for this unbearable pain.  TIA

Re: Colace for Constipation

  • Yes, it's safe.  Drink lots of water.  Don't bother with taking just one, take two (bottle says 1 or 2).  And don't bother waiting till before bed.  I know that if I'm constipated and I get woken up in the middle of the night to poo, I could care less.  As long as it comes out.  Try soaking in a warm tub too.  I hope it gets better!

  • Yes, my dr said its okay to take. I have taken it several times to get things back to normal. GL!
  • That's what I thought.  I just got out of a bath and I have tried everything.  I always try the natural route before I go to the meds, but I can't do it anymore.  Thanks so much!!
  • Just so you know...colace is not an immediate relief. Its kind of the thing that you should take every day to stay regular. If you want immediate relief you can also take milk of magnesia or glycerin suppositories.

Oh the joys of pregnancy :)
  • also try Plum Smart for digestive health by Sunsweet. I have a glass every morning and haven't needed to take Colace since I started drinking it. It really doesn't take bad either.
  • Yup. My high-risk doc "prescribed" it daily.
