Any thoughts positive or negative about being on it? Also did your insurance cover it? Did you have periods on it? My OB/Gyn submitted the papers to the insurance but I just wanted real opinions instead of reading the brochure.
I like not having to worry about taking something everyday/remembering every month/3 months. It's there and good for 5 years and it's just reassuring to me. I've only been on it for about a month now and so far I like it. I am still having breaththrough bleeding but it's not much. I'd say lighter than a light period. I'm hoping that goes away though soon.
So far, I like it.

I had a Mirena for 5 years and it was removed 1 year ago when we started TTC. I loved it! I never had to worry about the pills or, in my case, the weight gain I had from the shot. I spotted for a few months at the beginning and then my period went away for good for the rest of the time. I loved how it regulated me to not having monthly hormone mood swings and all!
I got my at my 6 week pp appt. I love it! As a matter of fact, mine expires in March and I'm getting another one. I did have bleeding off and on in the beginning, but I haven't had actual AF since before I got pg.
My insurance doesn't cover it. I have to pay $155 to get the old one out. $165 for the dr to put in the new one, and around $833 for the actual mirena.
I did have one scare when I couldn't find my strings. I freaked out and went to the dr. They were just tucked up. I haven't checked my strings since.
I got it right after Christmas so it was on my 2010 insurance. I had no idea it was that expensive. To be honest, I thought it really hurt to put in. And TMI, that table looked like a murder scene when she was done.
But, after sucking down Ibu for a day, it's been pain free. I also bled for a couple weeks, but that seems to be totally gone now.

I got it at 5 wks PP. I got it because it's safe while BF because the hormones are localized. So no side effect! And it last 5 years. You can have it taken out earlier if you want to TTC. I only had to pay a $15 copay. Lots of people say it really hurts to get it put in but I thought it was a piece of cake! Felt no worse than a regular pap. They did give me mortin for cramps after. I had PITA spotting for weeks and weeks after. But that finally went away after 6 weeks. Since then, I LOVE it! No AF yet...not sure if that's because of EBF or Mirena, or both. Some people don't get it on Mirena and some people just get spotting. Why wouldn't your insurance cover it? It's birth control and you only have to pay once.
So far, so good, have had it since August. Has helped with my endo cramps, although I still get AF. I only had to pay a copay for it, 25 for the actual Mirena, 25 for the doc to put it in. As PP poster, put it, I had no idea it was 800 plus dollars!! Wow!
