Follie check #4

Just got back to the office from my 4th (and likely final!) follie check.

The first thing I did was ask about my E2 level from yesterday (488). My NP was pulling up my charts when I asked and said that she never did see the results of the blood work so she asked where I was, I told her 488 and asked if that was low. She said "welllllllll maybe...." and then pulled up my chart. Come to find out the 488 was actually from Monday's blood work (that wasn't run on Monday due to the ice/snow storm) and yesterday's E2 level was in the mid 600s. So that was better. Then she asked me if I was on Ganirelix and when I said yes she said to absolutely not worry about the E2 level, that it really suppresses the number but that suppressed level isn't truly indicative of the maturity of the eggs or the number that would be retrieved. She said they don't even read E2 levels while on Ganirelix the same way as they do while on Lupron or other meds. So that made me feel a little better. She also said that I'm one of her most informed, knowledgable patients..and I credit you wonderful ladies for all of that!

Based on what she saw on the u/s she said we can expect to get around 10 eggs at the ER. 4-5 on my left, 5 on my right.

Pretty much sure I'll be triggering tonight for a Friday ER but just waiting on the official call. :)

    Sounds GREAT! Good info on the E2.  Too bad they tell u sooner, so ud have less stress.  But that's IF, right.

    It's been a long journey. TTC since 9/06. multiple IUI's and IVF's and 4 m/c's. IVF#3 = BFP, twins, induced at 34w6d due to baby b passing away (no explanation). Delivered on 35w1d, Baby A - baby girl, and Baby B - baby boy, our little angel.

    So glad you got encouraging news on your E2 level. Good luck w/ triggering.

    Just to ease your mind a bit - I was on ganirelix as well with my IVF cycle. My E2 only ever got as high as 850 and I had 18 mature eggs!!

    I think that's totally true what she says about Ganirelix.  On IVF#1, my E2 was about 1200 and I got 16 mature eggs.  On IVF #2 - without Ganirelix - my E2 was about 2800 and I got 10 mature eggs.

    TTC in 2008. Stage II/III endo, Hashimotos hypothyroid, low morph (3%).
    2 cycles Clomid/Ovidrel/TI/Crinone=BFN.
    IUI #1 - 4 Follistim/Ovidrel/IUI/Crinone = BFN.
    IVF #1 - Antagonist w/ ICSI 4/10. 17 retrieved, 5DT of 2, BFN :(
    IVF #2 - Long Lupron w/ ICSI 6/10. 15 retrieved, 3DT of 2, BFFN!!
    Lap 7/21/10
    IVF #3 - Clomid/Antagonist w/ ICSI 10/10. 14 retreived, 3DT of 3, BFP 10/20 but m/c. No HB 11/15/10 - D&C 11/17/10.
    FET - 2 blasts, 1 survived the thaw. Transfer 2/19. Beta #1 3/1 375, Beta #2 3/3 885, Beta #3 3/8 4261, Beta #4 3/11 9005. U/S 3/8 1 sac 1 yolk, U/S 3/16 1 heartbeat 114bpm!

    2005-2011= 3 Rounds of Clomid, 5 IUI's, 3 IVF's- ALL BFN's
    After 7yrs TTC, 5yrs of ute cancer, and 11 failed IF treatments, we got a surprise BFP! So thankful!
