Hi,
I'm seriously considering making the switch to CD. After doing a lot of looking, I think that prefolds and covers would suit my needs best. I'm leaning towards Flip or Econobum, perhaps a combo of both. Anyone use these?
I like that these are one size diapers, and from what I've read, they seem to be the easiest to clean in my HE washer. Also, I don't want to have to shell out $500 on a starter stash.
TIA
Re: Anyone use Flip/Econobum?
I occasionally use flips with their stay dry insert. I use them when I need something trim fitting for under jeans that he's about to outgrow or something. I do like the covers. They are one of my favorites. Personally, I would get very bored of a stash of just flips but I know some people prefer it.
I haven't use econobum because I'm not a fan of the one row of snaps. Unless it's a fitted. I love fitteds.
I was not a fan of Flips and got rid of the ones I had. I think if you want to go the prefold and cover route, you're better off buying covers and some quality prefolds separately. I'd stay clear of Econobums. Their PFs aren't good quality and the same goes for the covers.
Also, I see that you're in Canada. Flip and Econobum are both made by Cotton Babies. CottonBabies will not let retailers ship out of the US. So you'd have to buy from a Canadian based company online that stocks them or buy somewhere local to you.
This exactly! I have some econobums but only used then on my 3 y.o. when he was potty training because i was tired of shelling out $ for pullups and we were starting the CD thing with the new baby. Well, i should say I used the Econobum prefolds (i thought they were very thick, not sure why pp didn't like them) and Flip covers because i didn't like the EB covers for the same reason PP said.
Greenmountaindiapers.com have great prefolds. Diaperjunction.com has diaper rite prefolds which are supposed to be good but I like the size of the GMD's better since I just use them for trifolding on random days.
However, GMD's and flips are going to be our system when we move
