what should I expect?

Today I was 5 weeks along - but this morning I started to spot and this afternoon started to bleed with clotting.  I assume that I am having a miscarriage.  Unfortunately, I live in Atlanta and my doctors office is closed until the weather and roads clear up.  Can anyone tell me what to expect?

Is there any way for you to get to a hospital to get checked out?

I wasn't much further than 5 weeks and actually posted yesterday as to how long and what to expect.  I started to spot brown on Sunday which continued through MOnday and gradually turned into red blood.  Around 10 this morning is when it hit hard.  I had really bad cramping, lots of clots and lots of blood.  It lasted a few hours but now I feel much better.  I am still bleeding and have a clot from time to time still but nothing like earlier today.  This was my 2nd natural m/c and it was less pain and as someone described yesterday, like a really heavy/bad period being so early.

Can you call the after hours nurse line if you can't get to dr or er? That way, they will make a note of it incase you do have to go in.  I didn't have to go to the dr once it started as we had been waiting on it. They did call and check on me, schedule a follow up with blood work and a rh- shot next week.

Thanks for the information.  I spoke to the on-call midwife and she went over everything with me.  Once their office opens - hopefully Thursday - I will be making an appointment to go in and be checked out.  Hopefully I can handle this at home instead of having to go to the emergency room, given the amount of ice on the roads it would be dangerous for us to go out.
