sorry just needed someone to moan at.

I have worked at my current part time location for awhile I started as an assistant Manager and then dropped to on call regular staff member when I went to start up my dog walking/training business.

Now due to Christmas I came on as extra help and to get christmas spending money.

My Boss (also somewhat a friend) said she cant gaurentee me the hours I need to make up my quota for mat leave (im in Canada and my self employment wont count as its the first year of the business) nor would she fire me so I can get unemployment which also sucks, so I said thats fine talk to me about January and how many hours She would have that she could give me each week and I would let her know what I can work.....She hasnt contacted me so I sent her a text and told her I can work Fridays or Saturdays for January at least. I check my schedule today and Im down for Wednesday and Friday. saying she thought wednesdays were ok too as thats what I was working.

Now I called her and said no can do and she said well she has no one so I ended up giving a big sigh and silence as I didnt know what to say that wasnt a big nasty ramble about how everyone else calls up and says they are sick or can not work and that they are not coming in and you manage to find someone to replace them or have people work extra hours. When it comes to me weather  I am sick or can't work its the pitty party and the big line of but no one will take the shift and everyone else is working already. Bugs the crap out of me because I always say fine and go to work then everyone says awww you shouldn't be working today if your sick or sorry you had to cancel your dinner plans so ANNOYING!!.

But no instead of speaking my mind I said um and she said well maybe I can figure something out and she is all annoyed and I said well I'll get back to you if I can change my current plans which knowing me I will say yes because I can easily change my plans and I don't really have plans tomorrow night but at the same time I want to just say NO because I always cave in. Any thoughts

Ew I used to have a boss like that.  I would just tell her you can't.  She doesn't know your plans and if you didn't give her those days as your availability then she can't assume that you are available!  She will have to figure something out.
