Quick help- proper grammar

in Stay at Home Moms

I'm doing my sister's bridal shower invitations.  Is it:

1- The happy couple is registered at Macy's 

OR

2- The happy couple are registered at Macy's

I'm pretty sure it's #1 but I'm a nervous-nelly about making a commitment for some reason....

    #1 is correct; however, you should not include any mention of registry on the actual invitation.  If you would like I would include a separate piece of paper with the registry details.

    The apostrophe does indicate a possessive - it is the store that once belonged to Mr. Macy, or Macy's Department Store, shortened to Macy's.  Same is true for several other stores, as well. :)

    And yeah, happy couple (one unit) is.  Bob and Sue (two units) are.
