I am waiting to do my 1st cycle of IUI (+ clomid).
So I went for CD 11 ultrasound today and my RE offered to trigger with an injection, something we never talked about before. He said studies show no difference between triggered and natural O. I never had a problem with getting natural O so I was inclined to just wait it out, but now I am rethinking it. I have 2 follies 19 and 20mm, so they are a good size. I am now afraid, what if I wait and miss it or something? My last cycle was 56 days, so I might have to wait over 2 more months to try IUI again if I miss it.
WWYD?

I would use a trigger shot, it ensures that you have the best timing for the IUI. If you are putting your body through all of that, I would not want to risk the timing is off.
Good luck!
I don't have any O problems either, and we triggered. If I'm paying $800 for this, I want the best timing possible. Especially if it might be a few months before you get to try again.
Good luck!

Thanks Ladies, I am going to call back.
How does timing for the trigger work? You get the shot (at what time of day?) and then do IUI the next day?
Two angel babies 11/09 and 4/10
I triggered at 9 am Sunday and had the IUI at 11 am Monday. My largest follie (22 mm) was in the process of ovulating based on ultrasound at that point so they felt the timing was ideal. But 36 hours seems to be more typical timing from what I've seen around here.

Triggering is good not only for timing, but to ensure that all mature eggs are released. With a natural O, your body will most likely only release the largest/most mature one. So, the trigger helps you get more "targets".
As for timing, I would always take the trigger at 10pm then go back a day & a half later ( ex: Monday night trigger= Weds morning IUI)
