Bite on face...not quite

So the bite I thought i had was not a spider bite in was freaking staph infection on my face! How gross is that! My fiance had it on his stomach a couple weeks back and I guess its very easily spread via sheets and everything. ewww. Doc put me on anti biotics, but my question for anyone who knows about staph is what all in my house do i need to clean thouroughly or get rid of?We have new sheets on the bed and I guess I will wash those a couple times a week until both of our infections are gone, but man this sucks, the left side of my face is swelling up like a balloon

  • I occasionally get abscesses in my face from staph infections. There's not a whole lot you can do about it once its there. Keep taking the antibiotics the doctors give you and you can wash your face with Hibiclens. It's in a green bottle, I usually get it at Wal-greens, haven't needed it in about 2 years though. Did they give you a topical cream too? Usually get one, if not try a triple antibiotic cream, anything to keep it cleaned out. If it's just like a huge pimple, that should be enough, it'll just take a while. If it's open or puss-y, make sure to do warm compresses and keep a topical cream on it to keep it open so it will drain. That's not usually until it gets really bad, though. Good luck, I'm so sorry,I feel your pain!

  • I had two really really bad staph infections on my back about 4 years ago. I had the antibiotics and a topical. They told me to clean anything it touched, just to be safe. So sheets, pillows, clothing, etc. =/ I'm sorry honey. I hope yours don't get as bad as mine did... they had to dig all the junk out, and it HURT. =/ I hope it gets better soon!
