OBGYN recs

Hi Ladies,

This is my first post on the bump, I was over on the knot last year but I'm now making my way over to the bump.  I apologize if this is a common question but I'm looking for a good OBGYN in the Blaine area (or ~15 miles of there)...I think my insurance covers most clinics, so all recs are welcome.

We are trying, so hopefully I'll be on these boards a lot more very soon :)

Thanks!
-Laura

Re: OBGYN recs

  • I'd recommend Dr Lisa Mattson at Fridley Ob/Gyn clinic in the Unity Professional Bldg. She's awesome! I also like Nicole Baker, CNP.
Wife to an amazing man and mom to three darling girls!
  • I would highly recommend Dr. John Wust at Allina Clinic in Blaine (and a couple other locations).

He was my OB/GYN when he was in private practice and when he went back to Allina, I followed him because I liked his care so much.  Very personable and nice and really makes you feel like he cares about you:  https://www.allina.com/ac/homepgs.nsf/amchomepage/1623

I cannot say enough good things about him and his nurse, Jana, is wonderful, too.

  • If you are open to a man, I HIGHLY recommend Dr Lawson - also in the Unity Professional Building.

He is very patient, he will never rush your appointment - if i had 30 minutes worth of questions he would sit and answer every single one of them and not bother with time. Which on the other hand - he could potentially be late - but somehow Ive never waited for him because of an overextended appointment. I have never had good luck with female gyn's, so it was an easy choice for me....that and he actually was my moms Dr when she was pregnant with me :) So he delivered both me and my brother (12 years after me)!

I would though recommend any Dr w/in the Unity Professional Offices - they have all been fantastic and they work as a close team.

  • I know you have already had a few responses but if you are interested in doing things on the natural side I highly recommend North Metro Midwives!! There clinic is in Golden Valley and they are a North Memorial affiliate.I know it's a little bit of a drive but she is well worth it! She is so incredibly supportive! And the great difference between an OB and Midwife is you truly have her full attention! Only two women work with her and you usually see at least two during every visit and they are there with you during the ENTIRE delivery process!! Not just there to "catch" I saw two other OB's before I switched to her and trust me I wouldn't have had it any other way!! Good luck!
