mrspresley:oh cool!!
i too was distracted by your new siggy pics are those the HABA fantasy land blocks?? i have been eyeing those...
The blocks are made by Boikido and
they are GORGEOUS. Definitely not the cheapest blocks out there but
they're so fabulous that even I love playing with them lol. I splurged for Christmas and bought the 50 piece set.
And the boys get soooo excited whenever I pull them out (they love their regular wooden alphabet blocks too, but those get shoved aside whenever these make an appearance). Of course, at their age they're all about sticking stuff in their mouths so some of the blocks already have teeth marks, but oh well - that just shows they're loved, right?
Re: *** Jaime - about the blocks ***
cool, thanks for the info! i've added them to my wish list so i can remember....
she loves blocks but of course is too young to know how to stack just yet. i just wonder how many blocks a kid really needs LOL b/c she takes them everywhere and they are all over the place!! she has 12 blocks from this M&D sorting cube and these stacking blocks, plus 12 more blocks from this M&D sorting clock that we got as a gift. i will probably end up getting some fun blocks like these for her in the future, but will wait a little while since she seems happy w/the ones we have for now.

they are cardboard/paper but nice/thick and have held up well (i think we've had them for over 8 mos?) the shape of each block is wrapped with the paper/design that you see on them but it only wraps around to the inside a tad so the inside of each block is plain.
i really like the design on the outside of each block, very educational.... aside from having the alphabet on them they have cute little images associated with the corresponding letters... like a gorilla eating grapes.... or an elephant checking out some eggs.... a penguin wearing pearls and carrying a purse with a pink strap....you get the idea
i definitely like them over other stacking toys like these b/c i feel like those only teach stacking in order and colors but that's about it...whereas these other blocks also teach the alphabet, words, etc.

That's why I liked them too - I was looking at other stacking blocks and couldn't see anything else similar.
