June 2011 Moms

still nothing :( (vent)

I am almost 17 weeks and I still haven't felt a single flutter or movement. I know that 1st time pregnancies it is normal from 16 to 22 weeks. This, however is not my 1st or even 2nd pregnancy. This is my 5th. It has been 7 years since I have been pregnant and had a c/s with the last one. Could it be those are reasons I am still not feeling anything? I am really starting to get get worried and just might break down and buy a doppler just to hear the heartbeat.

Anyone other 2nd (or more) moms not feeling anything either?

  • I'm a 2nd time mom and I think I've felt the baby once. It's frustrating me too because I thought I would have felt him/her by now. I felt my son by this point. Grrr.

I can't really say why this is. Maybe an anterior placenta? My son was sort of a wild man in the womb, so maybe this one is calmer? And maybe a c-section does that, I'm not sure, although I had a vaginal birth.

I'll feel better once the little bean starts moving around more.

  • I'm 18 weeks today and only recently (past 5 days) have been feeling consistent movement. I was worried too when I was in my 16 week and not sure I felt movement but I had a doppler and would listen to the heartbeat so I think that's probably why I didn't get as worried as I'm sure you are.

I've heard some 2nd time moms feel something as early as 14 weeks, and I always thought I felt something but was never sure if it was just gas or not...but like I said, the last 5 days have been for sure baby movement.

If it would make you feel better than you should get the doppler, I know it helped me a lot. But just know that everything is probably fine and when I was as far along as you were (just a week or so ago) I was still not feeling movement either and I'm a 2nd time mom too.   Oh and I forgot to mention I also had a c-section with DS, so maybe that's why it took so long to feel movement? Maybe the scarring from the surgery has effected it somehow and when the baby rises above the pelvic bone area then we start feeling?  Don't know, just my guess.

  • I am about 16 weeks, I have felt the flutters a couple times. The only time I can feel them is when I am lying on the couch not moving and everything is quiet. But it's not an everyday thing. So if you haven't tried that, try it! Also It has only been in the late evening time. My doctor told me today I can start feeling them now or it may take up to 19 weeks to feel anything.
  • If it makes you feel any better, at my doctor visit last week (I was 19 weeks), he said I wouldn't feel movement for another 2-4 weeks.  I told him I felt flutters every once in awhile, but I don't think he really believes me.  I think it's normal not to feel anything yet!

  • 19weeks today, still nothing. When I think I might feel something, I'm convinced I'm imagining it because I''m anticipating it. I try not to worry. Maybe I'm just not in tune to every little bubbles and flutters in my body. I just think one of these days my baby will push so hard there will be no way to miss it.

    Hope you feel better.

  • I felt flutters at 14w with my last pregnancy and I hadn't felt a thing until this weekend this time. Even then I've felt a few tiny flutters and that's about it. I thought for sure I'd be noticing more movement by now. My best guess is that each pregnancy is different and it also has to do with where the baby and placenta are located. I bet you'll be feeling kicks soon!

  • I'm 3 weeks ahead of you, and I haven't felt anything either.

Chances are, you won't feel anything till 20-24 weeks, which is completely normal. The baby isn't even a pound yet.

  • I am 16w and this is my second and have yet to feel anything! Its driving me nuts. I just start worrying. If I had the money I would probably buy a Doppler to hear the heartbeat. It sucks just having to wait and hope everything is okay. I don't go back to the Dr. till Jan 27 seems like forever!

  • I didn't feel my first real kick until 18w2d... I had little flutters before that, or maybe it was gas? But now I'm feeling kicks. Hang in there! It'll happen soon!

  • This is my 5th baby also! I am 17 weeks too. I think I may have felt some fluttering but my digestive system is such a mess right now it is hard to tell. I am sure everything is fine mama! As you know soon enough the baby will be moving all over keeping us up all night! LOL!
