HI MOMS!
I work at a Montessori School and we are looking for questions to answer at an upcoming question and answer we are holding at our school.
If you can think of any questions you may have about Montessori or any questions you can think of that someone else may have please post them so we can get a nice group of questions together!
It is deeply appreciated!!
Re: need your Montessori questions!
I actually have a question that I've never received an answer to, so I hope you don't mind me jumping in!
The Montessori theory is basically teaching children to be self-directed, independent, and to think and act on their own without requiring prompting from an adult, correct? (For instance, if Johnny needs to use the restroom, he doesn't raise his hand and ask permission...he just gets up and goes.) How does that mentality transition into the realm of public school, where Johnny must conform and remember to raise his hand and ask permission to do things, follow a structured activity and not act independently on an assignment, etc.? I have several friends who are teachers and they all say that they can immediately spot a Montessori child in a classroom setting, because they have the hardest time "behaving" as they are expected, if that makes sense.
