Trouble TTC

Finally back with some results and a plan (long)

I posted an intro awhile back and have posted off and on.  We finally have all of our results back.  There are some issues on both sides.

All of my bloodwork looks good according to RE, which is good since my family if rife with autoimmune disorders.  However, she still thinks my cycles are irregular, and I'm not always ovulating during my cycles.  This last cycle was 27 days, which is my longest cycle since September.  They've been about 22-23 days since the fall.  Before that, some of them were spaced far apart.  She wants me to take Clomid.

I should have asked more questions, because I know at one point my prolatcin was high and my progesterone was low.  The only thing that she felt was off about my results was my low WBC count: 2.0.

My WBC is always low (after an 18 month work up, it appears that's just how I am), but this is the lowest it's been.  My RE wants me to call my hematologist just to let them know it's down to 2.  At my last hematologist  visit (over two years ago, she said to call if it got below 2 or I had an ongoing illness.  I'm contemplating whether or not to call at all, since I'm sure she'll just do more bloodwork and monitoring and I'm about to move.  What would you do?

Anyway, on to DH.  His SA was mixed.  He has lots of sperm, in fact too much sperm, and decent motility, but bad morphology. The  RE thinks that the sperm are being made so fast they're not having a chance to mature, hence the bad morphology.  The RE is going to have him do a male endocrine panel and thinks it could be his thyroid and that often times thyroid problems in men, sperm quality can be the first thing affected.  The official recommendation is ICSI.  She wants him to try taking L-Carnitine supplements and come back in 72 days once the sperm have had a chance to turn arround.

We'll go this route first, and if not I guess we'll have to move on to ICSI.  Thanks for reading all of this, if you made it this far.  Good luck with your TTC journey.

Re: Finally back with some results and a plan (long)

  • I can't really say since I don't have any WBC issues and don't know what that really entails or affects but if your Dr said to call I'd probably do it. It seems that the hematologist won't find it to be a problem anyway. I hope your DH has good luck with the supplements and you won't have to move onto IVF with ICSI! GL to you! :)
