I would just go with Alli. I honestly would never think of the diet pill if I saw that written down. I have a friend that goes by Alli (I call her Al though).
Well, I'm biased because my full name is Allie, but that's what I would go with.
Alley is not a name. It's a dark, narrow passage where people get mugged.
im sorry but saying alley is not a name seems close minded. names can be spelled however you want. people name their children after days of the week, the sky, river, fruits and foods and most of them are quite adorable.
So OP i agree i wouldnt thing pill when i see Alli. But Allie is the more common way with common is what you want. If you were spelling is Alyson I thing Ally/Alley would work nicely
I'm Allison and I go with Alli. If you spelled it with one L (Alison), then I'd go with Ali. But why ADD a letter to a shortened name. Shortening the name should be just that....Alli or Ali. Growing up, I also changed the spelling of Alli 101 times, but when I hit about 22 or so, I realized it was just easiest and most appropriate to spell it Alli.

And ally means to enter into allegiance with someone. As Alli is a diet pill, I think Allie would be the best choice here.
