Well, clearly you girls hate the name Kyler for a boy. Which is unfortunate because that is the ONLY boy name H and I have settled on. If it's a boy, he'll be Kyler William or Kyler Craig. H decided he liked the name once he realized there's a Husker football player named Kyler so he decided it was masculine enough. Kinda blows that so many people don't like it though! I honestly haven't found a single other boy name I like, and we need something semi-unique because we have such a common last name. I hate common names.
Anyway, are my girl names just as horrible? Just wanting a little feedback:
We love the name Islee (pronouced like the proper pronunciation of the first half of Isla...like island.) I'm afraid everyone would pronounce it IZ-lee all the time though, so the alternative is Eiley. Here are the rest of my contenders:
Islee/Eiley Marie (I was told this is too singsongy)
Islee/Eiley Renae (I think this is my favorite)
Aleyna Marie
Caylin Marie
Reesa Michelle
Rayna Marie
Re: Names: Uh Oh
If you wanted it pronounced like Isle, why couldn't you just spell it like that. I immediately read it as I-Lee because of the second e.
How would Aleyna be pronounced? Is it like A-LAY-Na or A-LEE-na?
Of your choices, I like Aleyna Marie and Caylin Marie the best.
I love love Isla...spelled that way. I really dislike the Islee spelling of it. I don't think anyone would pronounce it the way you want it pronounced. Coming from someone who always gets their name mis-pronounced it is so annoying to have to deal with and my name isn't even hard! My name is Jocelyn (jos-a-lyn), but people always pronounce it Joyce-lyn, Jozz-lyn, Jack-lyn the list goes on.... I know your daughter will not be happy with you if you name her Islee and expect it to be pronounced Isla.
I really like Eiley! It is very different and cute IMO. I would also spell it that way.
Lost Lilah (Audra's twin) at 26 weeks. Cause unknown. Forever in our hearts
I do want it pronounced like I-lee. That's why the alternative is Eiley.
Aleyna would be pronounced A-LAY-na. I prefer that spelling because I coached a little girl in my Girls On The Run group a few years ago who really endeared that name to me.
As for Kyler - if you really love it, that's all that's important. For the girls names, why don't you just spell it Isla? If you spell it with the -ee on the end, people will definitely pronounce it with the long E sound. Or maybe I'm confused. Do you want the long E?
I really like Isla and Rayna but not so much Aleyna, Caylin and Reesa or Marie or Renae for middle names.
I edited to clear up confusion. I meant the "Is" part to be pronounced like Isla or island. I do want the long -ee. I just thought that while more people are familiar with how to say Isla with the silent s, they wouldn't pronounce Islee the same way, they'd just say IZ-lee.
Marie is my middle name so I wanted to pass it down, but I hate how it sounds with Reesa (makes me think of Lisa Marie Presley) and was told it's too rhymey for Islee/Eiley. Sigh...too many decisions.

Small world! I've lived here most of my life and graduated from Millard North in '99! I don't live too far from where I grew up, actually. If we stay put in our current neighborhood, our kids will go to OPS, but we definitely live in a great area to raise kids! Though sometimes I kind of wish Omaha was a little more Kansas-City esque.
Go Huskers!
Alright, so now that that is out of the way! I like Reesa Michelle!
I like Eiley, spelled this way. I'm not sure how well it would grow up though. Caylin, I'm sure in some version, would be more popular than you are looking for.
I don't mind Kyler.
Personally, I dont prefer Islee or Isla for that matter... because I always want to pronounce is EES-La.. even though I know its Eye-la
Anyways... I do like the sound of Eye-Lee .. and like Marie as a middle name - not too rhyme-y - how often would she be called by her first and middle names?
But some alternate spellings:
Eiley is okay
or maybe
Ayelee (maye mispronounced ay-lee though)
Ailey

Also... if you like Kyler, why not Kiley? Or Kylie? Just a thought!
My mom is Renae, and I've never seen anyone else spell it that way! So I'm biased, but I LOVE this name
I like Islee Marie.
All that matters is that you and your husband like the name. His whole family hates both of our names and my family does not like my girl name. I love it and my husband loves and it is not like yo u are trying to name your child buddy bear or apple
Thanks for the input, ladies! While opinions alone don't sway me, I do like to see how people pronounce/view certain names.
And I was wondering about how Eiley would "grow." Sometimes a cute kid's name doesn't work as well as an adult's name, though I've known several Rylee's in the corporate world in my day and it didn't seem too odd, I suppose.
For Islee I would automatically pronounce it "ICE''Lee". I don't really love that one.
I do like Aleyna and actually have nothing against Kyler.

I graduated from Central in 98! It's definitely a small world - I'm an OPS kid, from 3rd grade til I graduated, so thumbs up there!
Haha I remember trips to KC for shopping, that was always the place to go. I sure don't miss the snow, though!

As a person who has a very different name and one that can be difficult for people to pronounce, I love it. So the child has to correct how people say her name or you do. Not everyone sees the spelling of it. It really isn't that big of a deal. If you love the name go with it. My children wanted a more "common" name when they were younger but as they got older they realized that they are they are unique and that makes them feel proud about it.
I like Islee. I like most of the names you have there and I also like Kyler (i even liked it as Zyler). There is only one name is this world that I cannot stand that is Nevaeh.
