We named our LO (warning-DD mentioned)

This may sound silly to some but we named our baby not knowing the gender.  I hated that when I would look at our 3-d ultrasound picture and could see every feature on it's face and saw the fact that this baby was so real that it didn't have a name.  So I talked with my DH last night and we decided to name our LO.  We named it "Kalin". 

We liked it for a girl name when I was pregnant but my 6 year old daughter said we couldn't name a girl that name because she had a boy in her class named Kalin.  So I thought it was a good unisex name since we didn't know what we were having and it has a lot of meaning behind it. "KA" are the first two letters in my maiden name and "LIN" are the last three letters in our married named so it was like taking our two families and mashing them together.  

I feel so much better and have more of a closure now that our LO has a name.  Has anyone else named their LO before knowing the sex of him/her?

Kalin is a very sweet name, and I am sorry for you loss.  We only have one girl and one boy name picked out, and now that I have gone through this, I told my husband yesterday that I didn't want to tell family and friends the names we like anymore until we're holding the healthy baby in our arms.  We called our baby "baby q" because our last name starts with q.  It's very affectionate and I love it, but I don't know if I will ever be able to call another growing baby "baby q".  I think there are quite a few people that settle on some kind of name for their child while they are pregnant.

Kalin is such a beautiful name and what a great meaning behind it. We planned on naming our baby Benjamin if it was a boy and we both feel it was so it stuck. I'm so glad it's been helpful for you to give your baby a name. It's really helped with healing for us as well.
