Quick, yes or no? Would you recommend getting the meal pass for WDW?

Re: Quick, yes or no? Would you recommend getting the meal pass for WDW?

  • My answer depends on whether you have a rental car (or access to a vehicle) and whether you have a kitchen/fridge in your room.  If you do have both of those, no.

    If you don't, yes.

We will have a fridge but I am undecided about getting a rental car...

  • I agree with Jody...and take it one step further.  If you are going to have a sit down dinner every day yes, more than worth it.  If you are doing quick service, I don't think it is.

Thanks...I think we will do more "quick service" than anything.

  • We always go to Walmart and buy groceries for the week.  We usually end up eating in the parks for about 5 meals on an entire week trip (some breakfast, some dinner).

It's most cost effective, you can regulate what you are eating, bring snacks, etc.

Oh, I guess that depends on if you have a stroller too (to cart the food around).

  • We liked having it.   I think we got 1 sit down meal a day and 2 quick service plus 1-2 snacks.  It was nice to add a little structure to the day and have reservations (not sure if you do that without).   We were able to get into quiet a few character meals (which were the most impt for the kids).  We used one quick service daily with breakfast at the hotel.   The kids loved having Mickey Mouse waffles daily!   They got a little kids meal (one waffle, sausage and applesauce plus a drink).  It was 9 dollars.  I think breakfast was an impt meal because it wasn't on the run so mcuh plus it was cool in the AM. (We went in August).  Our breakfast with the princess was 78 dollars (for four).  I remember one dinner at MK was $60.  We had our own car but we stayed in the parks all.day.long until we did all that we wanted to do....I want to say dinner with the princess was like $200 but you use 2 sit down meals on the meal plan for it.  (This was from a friend with a family of 5, we didn't eat at the castle--tried with no luck). I hear you use 2 meals with Chef Mickey's also.

I want to say the meal package was $600 (for five).  My mother said it was worth it but IDK.  I didn't do the math.  We left not using all our snacks.

  • I wouldn't, but that's just not the way we do WDW.  First, I don't think there is much variety in the snacks they offer or at least they offer a lot of things my kids don't like or I don't like them to have.  We prefer to bring our own snacks.  2nd, we prefer quick dining while there.  You can order groceries to be delivered to your room (like peapod) and can eat breakfast before you leave and bring snacks and lunch in with you every day.  I think that their quick dining options are pretty healthy and inexpensive, too.  I don't think it's worth it to get the meal plan if you're only going to have one or two sit down meals while you're there.  But, that's just us.  We're there to see the parks, not to sit in a restaurant.

  • I like having it but my husband and I really enjoy a lot of the sit down restaurants instead of quick service. We stayed for a few days this past summer and didn't get it because we were only there for a few days. We spent over $100 on our lunch, immediately went back to the resort to try to add it, and were told that you have to purchase it at least 48 hours before check in. Go to allears.net and look at the menus and prices and see if it's something you would benefit from or not.
  • We get it everytime and have always gotten our money worth.
