twins and CDing

Does anyone cloth diaper their twins? If so what did you purchase to get started? I know a few people have lists for singletons that will be CD, but I wasn't sure if that should just be doubled.

Yep!

I borrowed most of my NB stash, so I never counted how much was in it.  We used prefolds, fitteds, and a few AIOs when they were little.

We now use BG 3.0 OS for all 3 kids.  It simplifies things for me; DD1 has her own set (she stretched the legs out, so the twins can't use them yet), and the twins share a set.

I am CDing my girls.  We've only been doing it since they came home from the nicu, but so far it's been easy.  

I ended up adding to my initial stash since my girls were so much smaller than expected.  Here is a guesstimate of what I have:

What we are using now: 

10 bummis covers (these are good b/c they fit from 4-9 pounds)

48 preemie prefolds

10 rumparooz (they fit beginning at 6 pounds)

2 little joeys

This is enough to last us 2 days, so we only do diaper laundry every other day. Honestly, the limiting factor is the covers.  If we had more covers, we could probably go 3 days. We haven't yet perfected the skill of keeping covers clean for multiple uses!

 

What we have for when they get bigger: 

48 infant prefolds 

6 thirsties covers (the ones that fit up from 7 to 20ish pounds)  

24 bumgenius

16 fuzzibunz

8-10 random dipes that were freebies from Kelly's closet coupon codes (katydid, grovia, flip, kawaii, etc) 

Given that we only change each LOs diaper 8-9 times a day, I think this stash will be more than sufficient once they are a little bigger.  We may get some more covers to go with the prefolds, but are waiting to see which diapers we like best.

We have all BG for simplicity's sake. We have a total of 48; most are 4.0 OS snaps. We wash them about every other day.

We didn't do a newborn stash; just did 'sposies till they were big enough for the BGs. Good luck!

Thanks for posting this!  I really wanted to CD, and when we found out we were having twins I was worried that I wouldn't be able to swing it.  Thanks for the advice!

There is such a difference in what people like and what fits/works for their kids when it comes to CDing.  If you haven't started yet I'd suggest seeing if there are any you could borrow (from a friend?) or I would do a CD trial.  It took me over 10 brands/styles to find a diaper that FIT my son and that I liked.  I started CDing him 6 months ago and I love it now that I found a diaper that works for us (We use Softbums).  I plan to cloth diaper the twins when they arrive.
