Indiana Babies

What do you think?

So Friday Dh took Kamille to the doctor b/c she had gotten a cold on Wed and was much worse by Friday when he picked her up at daycare.  She has a double ear infection.  I've seen some improvement since starting the amoxicillin on Friday eve, but she has a horrible cough and is almost choking when she coughs b/c she's trying to cough up stuff and can't get it up or doesn't know how.  Should I be doing anything else for her?  I have a call in to the pedi to see if there's something else we can give other than Benadryl to dry her up.  I just feel so terrible for her, you can tell she's so miserable.  Poor baby :(

Re: What do you think?

  • If you think her ears might still hurt I would take her for a recheck.  For us a cough like more than 10 days after a cold means that means Andrew has a sinus infection and amox never ever worked for us. It's a little soon for that though if she just got the cold on Wed.

If it's just the lingering cold, we do benedryl if he has too much drainage & coughing. We raised his bed, run a humidifier, give him more water to drink than usual, and steam him before bed!  The combo of those things works very well for us.

I hope she is better soon!

  • I've also heard you can put vapor rub on their feet and then put their socks on to help a cough.

ETA: Not that that's going to break up her mucus or anything. I'll bet the pedi can tell you how much sudafed or delsyum to give her for that.

We've been doing all of what you've said you do and not really much improvement.  She was just playing with her ears, so I'm betting the amox isn't working.

Def take her in. It sounds like it isn't.  Sorry!

  • Thanks I have call in to her pedi so we'll see what she says.
