Advice for a friend-Kinda long

Hi, my name is Nicole and I am TTC. My best friend is gay and her and her partner would also like to TTC (We'd love to be preggo at the same time!). I know The Bump has been a great help in offering me info for the "traditional" way of conceiving and I'm hoping this board can help me help her. She doesn't have an OB, she just gets her annuals done with her PCP. She has irregular menses and she used to have a thyroid problem (she used to take thyroid meds but during her last year's physical her BW showed her levels were normal so she hasn't been on it), is slightly overweight but we have been going to gym semi-regularly since last June so she has lost weight but wants to lose more. What I think would be best for her, from reading others about problems with conceiving (be it low thyroid, PCOS, etc.) would be to get a referal to a RE who may be more helpful than an OB. If there is any advice anyone can offer, thanks in advance.

Considering the high cost of TTCing as a lesbian couple (sperm is outrageous), I'd do as you suggest and get a referral to an RE.  I am overweight with irregular menses and clomid immediately got my cycles regular - sounds like clomid might be a good first option for her as well, but you'd never want to be on it without full monitoring by an RE (imo).
