Peas and Green beans...

Any tricks to making these faster? I made them tonight to freeze in cubes, and it just seemed to take forever.  Not to mention that I went through three different appliances before I found the *right* one for me...blender! But putting them thru the strainer was a pain.  On the bright side, I do have carrots, peas and green beans in the freezer! Just took longer than I wanted.

TIA

Re: Peas and Green beans...

  • If I remember correctly, they puree better when they are cold. I never strained anything.

But I'm mostly remembering from 3 years back. DS pretty much just went straight to table foods because he wanted what big sister had.

  • I never strained anything either.  Dumped them in the food processor, added a little liquid if needed, and just processed until smooth enough/right consistency.

  • I decided to skip making green beans b/c it seemed like too much work.  For peas, I buy the frozen peas (no salt added kind), put them in the magic bullet with a little water, and puree until the right consistency.
  • Note to self: Ask mommies before wasting time.  AGHH!  Everyone that is going to make their own baby food, do not waste time doing this step.  You can get it pureed perfectly and dont have to put it thru the strainer.

This.  Cooper ended up hating green beans (still does) so I only made those once.  Peas are still his favorite.

Cameron hated pureed green beans too.  He will eat "real" ones now though.

Cooper refused pureed green beans and peas but he loves both now.  We started on table foods pretty early though.

My big boy is bounding towards 4! Baby brother coming in October!
