Sleep sack users-cotton or fleece?

My son sleeps in a long sleeved onesie with a cotton sleep sack. Before the holidays I got a fleece sleep sack for the colder months and I found myself never putting it on him! Well now he has a bit of a runny nose so I put it on him tonight. In my opinion, it's super thick so I hope he doesn't get over heated. Then again, I think about myself and how I would freeze if all I had was a thin cotton blanket so I don't know.

So sleep sack users-cotton or fleece, and what's underneath?

  • We use fleece with cotton pjs underneath.  We keep our house at around 75 degrees and she has the ceiling fan on.

  • My daughter sleeps in a footed sleeper with a fleece sleep sack and she seems perfectly happy about it.  She never feels hot when I get her in the morning.

  • We use a fleece sleep sack with thin cotton, long-sleeved, jammies underneath.  We keep our house about 68 at night.  Socks also.

  • Long-sleeved, footed sleeper (sometimes cotton, sometimes thicker), with fleece sack

  • I only used a sleep sack on her until she was about 8 months old, but when I did I would put her in cotton pj's and then in a cotton sleep sack.

I tried a fleece sack one time and she got way too warm.

  • Oh wow, sounds like I did good then-and that I need to start putting it on him every night from now on!

  • Fleece footed pjs and fleece sleep sack and a blanket that she inevitably kicks off.  But we live in an old, 1920s house that can be very drafty.
  • DS always uses cotton sleep sacks. We dress him in long sleeve and long pant pajama sets or fleece footed pajamas if it's cold.

  • We put DD in socks and either cotton or fleece footed pjs with a fleece sleepsack every night. It stays about 65-67 degrees in her room at night.
  • I use both. They sleep in footy pj's or 2 piece pj's and socks then the sleep sack. If I do fleece sleepers I usually use cotton pjs and if I do cotton sleep sacks we do fleece pj's but not always. We have never had a problem with overheating and we keep the heat between 69-72. Now its getting cold so I want them to be warm.
  • DD is in cotton long-johns, a cotton sleepsack AND a fleece sleepsack. It's about 67 in her room.

  • My LO sleeps in a fleece or velboa Halo Sleepsack, with a long sleeve onsie and cotton footed sleeper under.  And that is actually less layers then what I sleep in.  His room is a bit warmer, but we have a small fan on to circulate the air.  He sleeps well and seems comfortable to me.  Unless he's wearing a fleece footed sleeper, definitely a fleece sleepsack.
