Yoga after ET?

Anyone know if you can do yoga after an ET? I don't mean like the day after, but at some point during the 2ww. I know you can't do impact exercise, but I wonder if yoga is ok?

Re: Yoga after ET?

  • I was told yes and no.  Yin, restorative and pre-natal yoga were all okay.  No twisting, etc.   My instructor was very knowledgeable, so I followed her advice.   So the answer I was told was yes, but restricted.  Good luck!
  • I'm wondering the same thing about my Pilates Reformer class I go to... I keep forgetting to ask my RE's office.  I'm thinking I'll have to at least adjust the routine and what I do.

As far as yoga... I agree... no twisting and abdominal straining... but I don't know of anything else.  I just remember being told/reading that if you were doing it before, you are probably okay doing it after - with exceptions of course.

  • I was told DEF no...and im a yoga die hard :(

Too risky when ur ovaries are still so enlarged.  i was really only allowed to walk on a treadmill or flat ground.

With FET (for MrsMAF) and DE cycles (myself)... we won't have enlarged ovaries, so I wonder if that will make the difference...

  • I do hot yoga so I abstain, but I bet a restorative yoga would be okay.

    I agree with this too.

  • Thanks ladies for your responses! Hmm, well I go in tomorrow for baseline, so I'll see what RE has to say. On one hand you read about how yoga is so good for fertility and blood flow but on the other hand all the potential strain on your uterus may not be so great for my little embies..Ovaries are not an issue for me this cycle since it's an FET, so I guess we'll see! Glad to see there are some other fellow yogies on the board :)

  • I can't speak to a FET, but I was told no yoga of any kind due to ovary torsion risk for 8 weeks post ET. Then I had bleeding with my pregnancy and it was pushed out to 12 weeks. After that, they were fine with me doing prenatal yoga until I was put on bedrest for PTL.
