Happy sunday to everyone! So since we brought the babies home three weeks ago, we have been sleeping one baby downstairs in the pack and play, and our other daughter on the couch... I know..not ideal, but she sleeps better on the couch.
Our bedroom is upstairs and our night nurse has been sleeping downstairs with them. Last night was her last night, and I want to try putting both of them upstairs tonight in their separate cribs. Not sure how it will go, and it will be a pain because the bottles are downstairs. So I'll have to run up and down for right now with them screaming probably all night. When did you put your newborns in their cribs and how did it go? Getting nervous about how this will go down later.. ha ha! Thanks for your input!
Re: Cribs- how early? How did it go?
What about getting one of those formula dispensers where you can measure out the formula ahead of time and then just dump it into the bottle? Then you could prefill the bottles with water so all you'll have to do in the middle of the night is dump the powder in and shake? Or are you pumping?
My twins aren't here yet, but DS started sleeping in his crib at 3 months old and did GREAT! Go for it. If they've been sleeping seperatly downstairs I'm sure they will do fine upstairs. Good luck!
The first few days I had too much trouble going up stairs due to my c-section but they've been in their seperate cribs since day 3 or 4. I'm so happy we did this. We never had to deal with any transitions.
We give bottles @ room temp. In the beginning we'd fill all the bottles for the night with water and bring them to their room upstairs along with the tubs of formula. When they needed a bottle in the middle of the night we just added the formula to the bottles. There was no need to run up and down the stairs. They'll get used to it @ room temp.
I don't mean to judge or flame but please consider the safety of having a baby sleeping on the couch.
Good idea!!! This is exactly what I will do I think. I'll just keep all of that upstairs so I don't have to run down the stairs. That way I can mix them really fast in their room. Nervous about this night duty tonight.. ugh. Guess this officially starts my sleepless nights. Oh... no we only had one baby sleeping on the couch while our night nurse was here- and she never left the room. EVER. They were rolling into each other in the pack and play. We plan on sleeping them in the cribs tonight and hopefully from now on.
