converting contours to fitteds

Has anyone done this?  I got an awesome deal on some new kissaluv contours (colored) and figured they weren't that much different than the fitteds.  Then I started thinking about it and part of the reason fitteds are so highly recommended are because the elastic holds the poo in. 

So, it seems like contours are fitteds without the snaps/elastic (thus why they are cheaper than fitteds) and if I wanted to convert them, all it would take is a little slit in the edge of the fabric and thread some elastic in the legs and along the back (with a few stitches to hold the end of the elastics in place).  Am I missing anything?  Anyone try it and recommend it or not, and why?  Would I totally lose resale value?
