I dislike it. The combination of those two names makes it seem like the parents were trying too hard. I would pair either name with a less flashy counterpart.

I disagree with this, because you are Hispanic. While Cruz is nms, it's a completely normal name. I do, however, agree with the pp who said that Joaquin Cruz flows better.
I like Joaquin as the first name more (I may be biased, my son is Joachim which I think is the German/Yiddish derivation of the same name). But I think going with a cultural name is very cool.
Funny, we are not remotely Hispanic but our LN is a Hispanic sounding name (and includes Cruz). My favorite boy name is Joaquin but we don't want to use it with our last name b/c it does sound so cultural.
For me, Cruz is a LN, b/c it is part of ours, so I would go with Joaquin Cruz
MH is Cuban and I grew up and work in a predominantly Hispanic district so Cruz is a more popular name to me then everyone on here hating on Ava and Olivia
I think there are nicer Hispanic names you could come up with. I love Alejandro and Javier. (I begged MH for Javier, NN Javi, and he refused to put it on the list).
I really dislike Cruz for a first name. It's usually a last name. I know a girl with the name Cruzy which I am not a fan of either. It doesn't sound very feminine.

Re: What do you think of...
sounds like a starbaby name
totally. not into it at all.
MAJOR thumbs down if it's for a girl.
I would prefer Joaquin as a first name, for a boy- Joaquin Cruz Lastname.
I also prefer Joaquin Cruz, but I guess it depends on the LN. Cruz just seems a little too trendy for me
Jaquin Cruz! I don't like Cruz as a first name, sorry. Jaquin is nice though.
I also love the name Matteo...

I'm not really a fan of Joaquin. But it's whatever you like and prefer.
Good luck, sweetie.
