Do you think it would be ok if I slept propped up on my back? Like almost sitting? I have been having the worse time sleeping on my sides. My hips don't like it!

I think as long as you're comfortable sleeping on your back, you should be fine. Your body will tell you when you shouldn't be sleeping in a certain position.

This exactly. My doctor said not to worry about sleeping on your back if you're comfortable. I tend to fall asleep on my side but wake up on my back.

This. I saw my Doctor the other day and mentioned some hip problems I was having while sleeping. She said I can continue to sleep on my back for awhile as long as its comfortable.
Agreed with the PP - I was having hip pain as well, but using a Boppy (the cuddle one for sleeping, not the nursing one) between my knees has pretty much eliminated it.
Been away from theBump for a while, getting active again for all the good advice

The BEST Christmas present I got! I have always slept with a pillow between my legs, but the Boppy pillow is soooo comfortable!
I do though, sometimes, wake up on my back and it's because it hurts... this should be fun in the following months. lol!

The reason they suggest sleeping on your side is that on your back the extra weight of the baby, etc is being placed on your spine so you could wake up with a backache. At this point I don't think any of us are that much heavier. If that's what is comfortable for you I wouldn't worry.
I wake up about every 2-3 hours to pee. When I climb back into bed I switch sides each time to try and share the weight on my hips evenly. I also have a long body pillow (just a regular one) and this between my legs helps. My favourite position is on my side with sort of my lower leg stretched out, my upper leg bent over the pillow. This means i'm sort of slanted (almost on my tummy but not quite thanks to the pillow) and not directly on my hip bone.

Sleep however you're comfortable. A lot of women in 3rd tri will sleep sitting up because there's just no other way to get comfortable.
Have you looked into a body pillow? Sometimes placing a pillow between your knees can help with hip pain
