No more intercourse!

So... today I had a bit of spotting, the Doctor said it was most likely from last nights intercourse. It's been hard enough getting into the mood, but now we can't fool around.

 Anyone else going through this?

Re: No more intercourse!

  • The doctor said, flat out, no sex? I'm surprised. A little bit of spotting isn't uncommon after sex, especially if y'all were, um, getting really into it. As long as it stops, and isn't A LOT of major spotting, you should be fine. Shoot... it's happened to me even when not pregnant. =/ Was there a reason the doctor was concerned enough to say no sex? (Sorry to be nosy, but I'm curious, as mine hasn't said anything to me after I've had a very brief period of spotting after sex, recently.)

  • Yikes.. I agree with PP its pretty common to have a little spotting after sex even more so if its a little (rough). For the first probablyh 10 or so weeks I spotted a little after we had sex ever time but it stopped and I havent seen it lately and it was always just right after sex and that was it.

  • I agree with the PP's. Did your doctor say no sex, or did you decide this. Some spotting after sex is normal. I know it can be scary, it scared the hell out of me, but it does not mean you cannot have sex anymore.
  • My dr said spotting little was normal..There were NO concerns..Kinda surprised dr said NO sex..That would suck
  • I work with another prego and she is on "pelvic rest" which means no sex. But she has something weird going on with blood clots on the outside of her uterus or something. But she was given the order at like 13 weeks, and she is like 25 weeks now.

  • Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago.  Dr. asked us to refrain for 2-3 weeks to ensure there wouldn't be additional bleeding and since there wasn't, we were able to continue after that period of time.  And there hasn't been any since.  So hopefully same will occur for you.
  • She said that because I am only 17 weeks into the pregnancy, she does not yet know where the placenta is. I don't know how the two relate, but I'm assuming they want to make sure that if I do spot in the future (hopefully not)... that its something more serious then intercourse.

She had said that because I'm 17 weeks along, she doesn't know where the placenta is. I'm not sure how the two relate, but I'm assuming she wants to make sure that if I spot again ... its not because of intercourse.

Have you had any ultrasounds done at all? I had one done at 12w3d and they could see where the placenta was at that time.
