I have a ton of Dr. Browns that appear to be in good condition. I was considering reusing them and replacing the nipples but was not sure how safe or hygenic that would be.
I will be reusing mine, we used playtex drop ins and they are still in great condition. We will be getting new nipples but I've never heard of a reason not to reuse.
We used Dr. Brown, and they seem to be in good shape. I don't see any prob. with you reusing them. I want to try a new bottle with less parts, but when I mentioned it dh threw a fit. Don't know what I'm going to do.
mine are pretty beat up. i think once i finally break dd of her bottle habit, they are going in the trash! i'm planning to re-use my pumping bottles though.

Yes, and I even did research before when I was packing them away and unless the nipples are ruined, there shouldn't be any issue of hygiene even if you reuse the nipples. I saved every single piece of the Dr. Brown's bottles and when I get them out and sterilize them, I'll see how the nipples are. At least they're fairly cheap to replace if we need to. We are also going to buy a few of the Tommee Tippee bottles for the beginning when I'm breastfeeding because I want the more "natural flow" bottles during that time. Our DD got hooked on Dr. Brown's nipples while in the NICU and I had to use a nipple shield to get her to latch and she preferred the bottles.
After 2 miscarriages and a pre-term birth (34 weeks gestation due to PROM), our healthy baby girl is growing up fast!
3 more miscarriages and finally a correct diagnosis (septate uterus) and a corrective uterine surgery later, our second blessing is here!
We have quite a collection of bottles (Avent, Dr. Browns, Playtex, Nuk) and will likely go through all of them and buy new nipples for the ones we want to reuse. I would like to have it more consistant but since we got so many as gifts, we just used them all with DS and never had any issues.
Good question - I had planned too as I saved them from DD. However, my SIL has been using them for her DD and, I guess, she will still be using them when DC#2 comes along...how do I ask for them back....along with the car seat, stroller, swing, bassinett, clothes (if its another girl), oy - just about everything else. Her DD will be about 10 months when DC#2 comes.

If she knows you are pregnant, I find it appalling she didn't say she'd drop the stuff off ASAP. You have to say something... Try "since I'll be having another one, I'll need all of that stuff you borrowed back in March (or April, whatever)."
Yes, but I'm going to go through them and get rid of any that aren't in good shape. I just cleaned them and chucked them all in a box when we were done with them. I will get new nipples, though.
Re: Are you reusing your baby bottles?
Ditto we are reusing and buying new nipples.

I am planning to replace the nipples on our Dr. Brown's.
Really though, I probably won't even bother putting them away, since my son is still using them now.
Thanks Ladies! I guess I'll be reusing our Dr. Brown's. I did register for some Tommee Tippee for the breastfeeding period.
I also have left over unused nipples for the Dr. Brown's. We must have spent A LOT of money on bottles for DS. LOL!
This.
