announcement email

I'm not the best at phrasing announcements, and I was wondering if anyone would offer up a cut and paste template for us to send to our closest friends and family about the arrival of LO. the specific words I am struggeling with is how to phrase  that altho we appreciate the fact everyone wants to come see her and such, we need time to bond, heal, for her immune system to build up, for us to get settled, etc before we want visitors? ..  is it ok to request a few weeks? thank u in advance for ur help/experience..

Re: announcement email

  • I sent out an email and it went like this:

We have a new member of the X Family.

John Smith was born _____at _____ weighing ____ and ____long. We are really excited that he is here to start the new year with us. Like every new parent we are excited, happy and exhausted! I can't wait for John to meet the family - we expect to be ready for visitors after ____ We will email/evite/invite you in a few short weeks so be prepared!

  • I'm not very good at saying things like that in a friendly way, but we just said something like "we look forward to visiting with our friends and family once we've settled down and had time to bond. Thanks for all of your support."

  • My baby announcements just say something like, "Come say hello on ____. Potluck, cocktails, wine, and happy." Simple. But I've told people to not be surprised if they don't hear from us for a while after LO arrives. I think no normal human would consider it rude at all.
