Baby Names

Help! MN for Charlotte

Hi girls,

I am expecting a little girl in April, and my husband and I are starting to talk about names. We have a first name that we quite like, but we're stuck on the middle name... so we need help!

The name would be Charlotte ________ Cooper.

One middle name that I am quite fond of is Amelia, but would the initials 'CAC' be a concern?

I'd love everyone's thoughts and suggestions. We are quite traditional, so please no suggestions of made-up names or funny spellings. Thank you in advance!

Re: Help! MN for Charlotte

  • Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I don't see what's wrong with those initials. Now I feel oddly confused.

Amelia is nice, as is Ann. I prefer a one syllable middle name with the 2 syllable first and last names. Jane, Kate, and Lane come to mind.

  • Marie is my, my moms, and my grandma's middle name. I love it with Charlotte.

  • Charlotte Amelia sounds precious, and the initials CAC are fine.

Other suggestions - Anneliese, Victoria, Madeline, Sophia, Olivia, Josephine, Vivienne, Arabella, Emmeline, Matilda, Lillian, Penelope, Miranda, Rosalie, Evangeline

  • I LOVE the name Charlotte! I immediately thought of Charlotte Mae. I also like Charlotte Ann, Charlotte Grace, Charlotte Rose and Charlotte Marie. Good luck deciding!

ETA: I also think Charlotte Amelia sounds really pretty together, and I don't see any problem with the initials CAC. It's a very sweet name!

  • Amelia is a great name, and I love the rhythm of Charlotte Amelia Cooper. Very distinguished. The initials aren't a problem.
  • I may be overthinking the initials... I'm Canadian and, although I don't live in a French-speaking part of the country, I do speak French and it seems to me like CAC may be too close to CACA - the French word for poop.

But I also think that it's a bit of a stretch to imagine that kids are going to make fun of someone's initials when you actually need to extrapolate them to get to anything worth making fun of.

I mean, it's not like I'm naming her Charlotte Olivia Cooper, right? :P

  • I always liked Charlotte Lindsey.  If my husband hadn't vetoed Charlotte, that is almost definitely what our LO would be named if it's a girl.

    I like Amelia!

  • I love the name Amelia, but I might be a little biased - that's the name we're using. =)
Before we decided on Amelia, though, Charlotte was in our top 3!

I think Charlotte Amelia is a beautiful name!

  • DH and I were throwing around Charlotte Helen (Charlotte for his grandpa, who is Charles, and Helen for my grandmother) so I love your fn choice, and I think Amelia is gorgeous. You can't go wrong!

  • I like Rose for a middle. Flows off the tongue. IMO
