MISCARRIAGE QUESTIONS

I STARTED HAVING SOME BLEEDING(BROWN) THURSDAY BUT I DID NOT WORRY BECAUSE AT MY 8 WEEK U/S MY DR SAID I HAD A BLOOD CLOT IN MY UTERUS AND SOME LIGHT BROWN BLEEDING WAS NO CONCERN. BY FRIDAY I WAS BLEEDING SLIGHLTY MODERATE RED BLOOD. I WENT IN TO MY DR AND HE DID AN U/S AND TOLD ME HE DID NOT SEE A HEART BEATING. I WAS DEVASTATED BECAUSE IVE SEEN THE HEART BEATING 3 TIMES ON PREVIOUS U/S. I AM SCHEDULED FOR A D&C @ 8 TUESDAY SINCE I WAS PAST 8 WEEKS(9 WEEKS 5 DAYS). I AM REALLY NERVOUS AND HOPING THE MISCARRIAGE WILL PASS ON ITS OWN. HOW DO  I KNOW IF IT HAS COMPLETELY PASSED ON ITS OWN AND WHETHER TO HAVE THE D&C?? I PASSED A MODERATE AMOUNT OF BLOOD YESTERDAY AND IT SLACKED OFF A LOT. I EVEN PASSED A WHITISH/CREME COLOR THING...WHAT COULD THIS BE?? IS ONE DAY OF BLEEDING EVERYTHING??

Im so sorry for ur loss.. I bled for 2 weeks on and off it was not fun. The bleeding would stop and when i least expect it there it was again. The white thing i beleive is the sac (correct me if im wrong)

I am sorry to hear about your miscarriage.  I am also waiting for my body to miscarry and I have a d&c scheduled for tuesday.  My dr said that the miscarriage should be somewhat obvious and if it has passed and I am still bleeding after like 5 hours, then I need to go into the dr or er and get a d&c anyway for an incomplete miscarriage.  I have been bleeding for about a week, but have not had any cramping yet.  I had an ultrasound yesterday and everything is still in there, so I know that I haven't passed anything yet.  If you are still bleeding for a while, I would call your dr and tell them.  My dr seemed very adamant that I get checked out if I was still bleeding after I miscarry.  Hope this helps a little.

I am terribly sorry for your loss.  I believe the whitish thing you saw is tissue, part or all of the endometrial "cast".  The sac could have been attached to it or inside it.  This could be good in a way though for you, because it sounds like your body is trying to pass this naturally.

I'm really sorry you're having to go through this.  I just wanted to tell you that if you do have to get a D&C, I had one yesterday and it wasn't bad at all (the procedure that is).  I didn't miscarry on my own, and personally just couldn't wait around for it.  I have had no cramping and minimal bleeding.

Sorry!  i didnt really pay attention to the caps lock being on. Thanks for all that useful info. I cannot say i have had ANY large clumps or too much bleeding for that matter. I am calling monday and asking them to do an ultrasound to see what remains before i go in for the d&c tueday a.m. I noticed you had your babies name in your lilypie...how do you know it was a boy at 8 weeks?

2) I am very sorry for your loss.  The whitish thing could very well be tissue and/or the sac (although when I passed my sac, it was covered in dark red blood).  For me, I had a week and a half of brown spotting (at the early end of which there was a heartbeat), then two days of redder blood, and then almost everything passed within a 3 hours period overnight (including a fist-sized clump of tissue that was probably the sac).  The next night I had severe cramping and passed more tissue (Sat night).  On Monday, my doctor confirmed an almost empty uterus. I had minor bleeding until Wed; passed a little more tissue Wed. morning, and then the bleeding stopped.  The amount of bleeding and how long it lasts varies a lot from woman to woman.

Before the D&C your doctor should do an u/s to see how much of the tissue you have passed and determine if the surgery is still necessary.

Also - it is important to only use pads for the bleeding for now; no tampons or anything because that might introduce infection.

I am so very sorry about your loss!! I just wanted to say that i had a blighted ovum and had a d&c 6 days later and it wasn't bad at all and i was relieved to know that it was all over and done with and we could only go up from there. the way my doctor explained is that sometimes d&c's can be good because you know you got everything and it usually makes your hormones go back down quicker. So if you have to have a d&c dont be scared its going to hurt or anything because it doesn't just some cramps and bleeding afterward (mine was similar to a normal period). Best of Luck to you!!

Im so sorry for your loss as well. It's hard! I can't wait until my honey and i can try again. It will be atleast 6 months though. Ive had two miscarriages. one in october 2010 then i conceived in november 2010 and just lost it. I hope your next pregnancy is successful and healthy:-)
