I was trying to find pregnancy for dads books but nearly everything on Amazon had really mixed reviews and this looked like something he might actually read. DH's reaction, "Whoa! That guy looks like he's going camping or something!" I came back 20 minutes later and he has the tv muted and is actually reading it.
It has actual, useful advice about bathing, feeding, etc with lots of humor. A section on activities to test your babies reflexes is prefaced by saying they are cool tricks to show your friends. It also gives instructions for changing a diaper, which I hadn't even thought about until I realized DH had never changed one. It has silly stuff, like exercises to do while wearing a baby carrier or lifting the car seat, but then shows how to quickly baby-proof a hotel room.
It's certainly not the most thorough book on parenting, but it's a good start for DH who has barely been around infants and I'm hoping this will break the ice to get him to read some of my pregnancy books.
Has anybody else read this and can anyone recommend a good pregnancy book for dads? I've put What to Expect in the bathroom but he won't do more than "skim" the father chapter.
