Can I give Benadryl and cough medicine...

Is that too much...I dont want to over medicate...DD has a bad, hacking cough...Took her to dr tonite, but she says lungs seem good, try humifidier, and antihistamin to dry it up...Well, that doesnt seem to be working.  Poor kid is coughing non stop...Sounds like she could throw up its so loud and deep.  What would you do...

Im thinking of waiting a few hrs, then cough medicine...or no..Thx

I would get a bunch of pillows to prop her up on, give her some honey, do the vicks on the feet and maybe a cough drop if she's awake enough (I didn't see how old she is though). In the morning I would give her some claritin. 

I hope she feels better soon and gets some sleep.
