Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

question

Maybe this is a stupid question and maybe there isn't an answer.  Maybe I am just trying to find out something that no one knows the answer to.  I am sitting here waiting on a m/c to happen.  I have no idea when.  How long can you go waiting on a m/c to happen naturally?  I have no idea how long this stuff takes or what I should even be looking for. I finally had a cramp or two tonight but still no spotting.  Google hasn't given me the best answers this week.  I know by Tuesday I will have some answers from my dr but that is many days away.

Thanks.

Re: question

  • With my m/c in June, it just hit me like a ton of bricks while outside playing with my daughter.  I felt fine one minute and next minute I felt terrible and knew what was happening.

Most doctors will only allow you to wait a max of 2 weeks, and if it hasn't happened by then they will either suggest medication to "encourage" it or surgical treatment (a D&C).

It all depends on how your body recognizes the pregnancy.

I didn't have to wait; we were told my baby had a heartbeat at just over 6 weeks and my spotting was nothing to worry about, and less than two weeks later I no longer had a baby.

Thanks for answering. I guess I am in still in the 2 week waiting phase.  My first beta that was much too low was on Monday that was our first sign.

I am so sorry for your loss.

  • My doc said it could take up to a month, so I opted for the D&C.  It started naturally the day before my D&C though, about 2 1/2 weeks after my baby had stopped growing.   I'm so sorry you're in this position.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss.

I had to wait 3 weeks for my natural MC. We found out on Dec 16 that the baby was gone. My symptoms started to disappear the week before and by the week after they were totally gone. I had mild cramps on and off the whole 3 weeks, though. I started spotting yesterday morning and it's gotten progressively heavier with clots today. Surprising, though, it hasn't hurt that bad physically. I was expecting it to be 10 times worse.

The waiting was defiantly the hardest part. I felt like I was in limbo. I wasn't pregnant, but I hadn't miscarried, so I wasn't on a real cycle, so I couldn't start trying again. I felt like I was standing still... just waiting. I tried googleing the time frame, too, and I got answers anywhere from a few days up to 6 weeks. So unfortunately, I guess it just depends on your body.

I hope you don't have to wait too long.

  • I'm sorry for your loss.  Waiting is so frustrating.  I'm also waiting.  I saw the doctor yesterday and he recommended that I wait to miscarry naturally and not have a D&C (I had one a few months ago).  My doctor said that before sonograms most women miscarried between 10 and 12 weeks. In my case the embryo stopped developing at 5 weeks and I would be 8 weeks along now.  My doctor said that if I don't miscarry naturally in 1 or 2 more weeks (my choice) I should go ahead with the D&C.

I'm sure you will feel anxious until you can see your doctor, but hopefully everyone's responses will help you get through the weekend.

  • I had a missed MC.

My 8 w u/s the embryo was only 6 w 4 d, and I told the doctor that there was no way I was wrong about the 8 w,  So she recheck my at 11 w (since we were out of town the week of christmas)...still 6 w.  I started to bleed right after I left the office (which is a miracle really, because I knew it was coming and I didn't have to wait).  So by my calculations, that makes about 5 weeks between when it stopped growing and now.  (I'm in the process of MC right now).  But my doctor also gave me a 2 week window, come in for a d&C

Just do what your doctor recommends.

    I hope that helps.
