Cloth Diapering

Please help me!!!

I'm trying to go the economical route as this is our last little one coming.  So I've come to the conclusion after weeks of research that prefolds paired with covers are the cheapest....or am I wrong?  Because I thought the OS/AIO's make more sense $ wise after calculating the costs--and now my brain feels like it's going to explode ::sigh::  If prefolds are cheapest can you recommend to me which type/brand and where to buy?  Or can you recommend another option that is more cost effective?  I know you can buy used but I have no idea where to start i.e. what styles/brands are best.   TIA.

  • Prefolds are the cheapest option, but you may want to have some other types too. LIke pockets/AIOs for dad and babysitters.

I like my GMD prefold. www.greenmountaindiapers.com

Spots corner is a great place to get used diapers: https://hyenacart.com/Spots_corner/

As far as what brand, it realy depends on your little one. Not all diapers work for all babies.

For cheap pockets I like the Sun Baby brand on ebay and a lot of people like Kawaii.

  • Prefolds are definitely the cheapest option, but make sure you try them out before you commit to a whole stash. I bought a few dozen + covers and then decided that I hated them so much that CDing would not last for us going that route. So now they sit.

  • We are in it to save money, but we went with pockets.  I just know prefolds and covers would not work for us in the long run.  I also bought our diapers in batches and started out CDing part time to use up our shower present diapers and not put too much of a strain on our budget.  We will have broken even next month, so even with a more expensive diaper, it is still much cheaper to go with CDs.

  • I'm using prefolds for newborn phase as they are cheaper and i will be on maternity leave and will pretty much be the sold diaper changer.  ONe size also probably won't fit a newborn.  AFter newborn period we are going to try one size, will be easier for babysitter and DH.
